MSFSVoiceWalker is a free, open-source proximity voice chat for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 & 2024. Install once – whenever the sim starts, voice starts with it. Fully automatic, serverless, no account, no login.
You hear other pilots only when they are actually near you – just like in real life. Works in the cockpit, external view, drone camera and even in the new MSFS 2024 Walker / on-foot mode.
Licensed under Apache 2.0. Free forever. Donations welcome – they help cover website & development costs.

VoiceWalker transmits your voice only to pilots that are actually close to you. Full volume in the immediate vicinity, smooth falloff at distance, silence far away. The effect is a natural „airfield chatter“ feel: taxi neighbours are loud and clear, traffic across the field fades away.
All defaults can be live-tuned from the built-in debug panel (Ctrl+Shift+D).
Head-Related Transfer Function rendering turns stereo headphones into directional audio: you hear from which direction another pilot is speaking. Inverse-distance falloff and cardioid mouth-direction dampening make the experience feel physically plausible – the pilot behind you sounds different from the pilot next to you.
The world is split into geohash cells (~20×20 km). Pilots inside the same cell find each other automatically via public WebTorrent trackers – no central server, no login, no account. Pilots in Frankfurt and Tokyo live in completely separate meshes, so bandwidth stays tiny and private.
Optional push-to-talk with any HOTAS, yoke, rudder pedals or button box. Plug it in, click „Assign key“, press the button – done. Works even when MSFS is in the foreground.
